Bridgeport In-Home Care Services
Bridgeport, Pennsylvania is a town situated along the Schuylkill River in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Named for its proximity to both Philadelphia and Valley Forge areas, it was considered a bridge to Valley Forge during the rough winter of 1777-1778; George Washington is said to have passed through on his way to the destination, as well.
An industrialized area, it was historically a popular area for paper, flour, cotton, and woolen mills, as well as for steel works.
Bridgeport is easily accessible through various modes of transportation in the Philadelphia area, including by SEPTA services. Travelers can reach Bridgeport through Route 99 along the Phoenixville/Norristown bus route.
Being only 0.8 miles wide, the small area of Bridgeport is densely populated with 4,554 people of diverse backgrounds counted in the 2010 census.
Leonard Tose, business tycoon and former owner of the Philadelphia Eagles, was born and raised in Bridgeport, Pennsylvania.
Born to Russian Jewish immigrants, Tose rose to the top in the trucking industry, and eventually branched out to other endeavors. His popularity in the Philadelphia area surged when he became one of a large group of investors to purchase the Philadelphia Eagles, and eventually to coax coach Dick Vermeil to work with the NFL team.
